Analysis of Import and Export Data of PVC Resin Powder in China in the First Quarter

According to the latest customs statistics, in March 2024, China imported 27000 tons of polyvinyl chloride resin, an increase of 109.2% month on month and a decrease of 50.1% year on year; The export of PVC resin powder reached 297000 tons, an increase of 84.8% month on month and 38.3% year-on-year. From January to March 2024, China imported a total of 62000 tons of PVC, a year-on-year decrease of 59.5%; Accumulated exports of PVC resin powder reached 626000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 4.1%.
In the first quarter, from the perspective of import sources, PVC mainly came from the United States, Taiwan, China and Japan, accounting for 49.2%, 24.0% and 23.1% respectively; From the analysis of export destinations, PVC resin is mainly sold to India, Vietnam, and Thailand, accounting for 49.0%, 6.2%, and 4.6%, respectively.
The year-on-year decline in China's PVC resin exports in the first quarter has narrowed. Analysis shows that the demand in India, Southeast Asia, and other regions has recovered, while international long-distance transportation has been hindered, resulting in unstable PVC shipments to the United States. Therefore, local merchants actively inquire with Chinese PVC sellers to supplement their orders, supporting a rebound in the monthly export volume of domestic PVC powder in March.
